What do we do?
We provide Air Conditioning Energy Inspections in line with the methodology set out in CIBSE TM44:2012 direct to businesses, landlords, building owners and tenants. A building requires an air conditioning inspection if it has 12kW or more of cooling installed. So if your property has three split systems of 3.5kW and one of 2.5kW, the total cooling is 13.0kW then this building would require an air condtioning inspection to be conducted every five years. A cooling system only needs to be inspected if it is over five years old.
Where do we do it?
London, Surrey, Kent, Sussex & Hampshire. We can also call on a network of inspectors around the country and put you in direct contact with them.
How long does it take?
It depends how much air conditioning plant there is in your building and how much information you can provide about the system. We'll ask all the relevant questions when you call or email us for a quotation. But it can take several weeks to prepare a full report. The inspection will involve a visual inspection of all chillers, condenser units, air handling units and their relevant controls. A sample of the indoor units will be inspected in order to gain an overview of their operation and state of maintenance. The controls will also be examined to determine hours of operation settings, temperature, deadbands/interlock facility, free cooling availabilty and whether any guidance is provided to the system operators. We will also need to calulate the floor area of all the air conditoned rooms. So for large, complicated buildings a floorplan is extremely helpful. The air conditioning inspection report is designed to provide recommendations that the owner/operator can implement at both no/low cost and also advise on future planning for when systems reach the end of their useful lives.
How much does it cost?
This depends how much air conditioning plant there is in your building and how much information you can provide about the system prior to our inspection. The more detail and floorplans that you can provide the cheaper we can make the quotation as this may reduce the time it takes to conduct the air conditioning inspection.
The Air Conditioning Energy Certificate & Report will usually be supplied electronically as PDF files. This way you can print and distribute as many as you need (and it keeps our costs down & helps the environment!). We can of course provide a hard copy if you require one.
